Professional Training

 

As an Authorized Training Agency (ATA), AIDS Community Services is authorized by the AIDS Institute of the NYS Department of Health to offer professional trainings throughout Western New York.  All trainings follow AIDS Institute-approved curriculum.  We offer the following public and professional trainings:

 

  • Overview of HIV Infection & AIDS: provides participants with a basic understanding of HIV infection and AIDS.  (3 hour training)

 

  • Community HIV/AIDS Educator Training: is designed to prepare participants to serve as community HIV/AIDS educators.  Participants will be required to give a presentation to the class on the final day. (4 day training)

 

  • Offering Testing in CBOs Serving High Risk Communities: is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct pre- and post-test HIV test counseling in accordance with New York state law and regulations. (3 day training)

We also offer specialized trainings for ongoing professional development.  These trainings can be created and tailored to meet any needs or information requirements.  Some examples of trainings and workshops conducted include:
