Peer Education Programs

EHS believes that individuals appropriately motivated and trained can have a significant impact on their social contacts and networks.  Peer Education programs are the vehicle EHS employs to identify, train and support peer educators in assisting the agency in communicating healthy ways to prevent HIV transmission.  EHS Peer Programs include programs that target adolescents and adults.  All of the Peer Programs have these objectives.

The following are Peer Programs currently available at EHS:

  • Increase knowledge and eliminate misinformation about HIV/AIDS and other Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs)

  • Develop compassion for people living with HIV/AIDS

  • Increase skills in communication and resistance to peer pressure

  • Develop skills at making decisions

  • Develop leadership skills, such as in planning and leading programs, public speaking, and facilitating group discussions
