WNED Documentary Dangerous Silence

This 28 minute documentary film created by WNED TV, "Dangerous Silence" explodes the myth that AIDS is something that affects "other people." With moving personal stories, it brings a disease that people don't want to talk about into the backyard of Western New York and Southern Ontario

A number of staff, patients, collaborating partners and volunteers of Evergreen Health Services have assisted in the creation of this documentary. Featured in the film are: Kathleen Pratt, an EHS Evergreen Medical Group patient and ardent supporter; Ron Silverio, President & CEO since 1989; Jim McCarthy, a strong advocate of HIV/AIDS education and a top fundraiser perennially for the EHS AIDS Walk; Dr. Neal Rzepkowski, an EHS medical professional working at Evergreen Medical Group; Pastor Germaine D. Hurst of the Greater Emmanuel Temple, an EHS community testing partner and past EHS Annual Award recipient and Averl Anderson, an EHS Outreach Worker.

The professional HIV/AIDS prevention education staff of EHS has created a Facilitators Discussion Guide to be used in conjunction with AIDS: Dangerous Silence. This guide will give educators, community leaders and faith groups a comprehensive and easy to use tool to facilitate discussions around a series of important topics discussed in the documentary. AIDS: Dangerous Silence is a poignant, informative take on HIV/AIDS in Western New York. It is perfect for use as a teaching aid in schools, churches, community centers or simply with your family and friends.
